In this project, we transformed three buildings into one modern animal hospital at 1720 Montreal Rd. From design to construction, we reconfigured 80% of the interior, resolved foundation issues, upgraded the exterior with metal siding, and revamped the parking area, creating a fully functional veterinary facility with top-tier amenities.

For this project, ARTYX Construction handled every stage from design to final completion, transforming three existing buildings (1716-1718-1720 Montreal Rd) into a single state-of-the-art animal hospital.

The project began with a thorough assessment of the structures, followed by preparing existing drawings of all three buildings. Based on the owner’s vision and operational requirements, we developed proposed layouts for both the main floor and basement, ensuring an efficient and functional design. After finalizing the architectural plans, we collaborated with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers to complete the engineering drawings and submitted the full permit package to the City of Ottawa.

Once the construction permits were approved, we initiated demolition and began reshaping the interior. Approximately 80% of the building’s interior layout was modified to create a modern and efficient space tailored to veterinary needs. The newly designed facility includes seven exam rooms, a fully equipped surgery room, an X-ray room, a laboratory, a clean room, a manager’s office, a spacious waiting area, a kitchen for staff, and four washrooms.

Given the building’s age, we also addressed significant structural concerns, reinforcing and repairing the foundation to enhance stability and longevity. To improve energy efficiency and aesthetics, we upgraded the exterior with durable metal siding, new soffit, and fascia. Additionally, the outdoor space was completely revamped—new asphalt was laid in the parking area, and interlocking stone was installed around the building to enhance accessibility and curb appeal.

This extensive renovation successfully transformed three outdated structures into a modern, fully functional veterinary hospital. By managing every phase from design to occupancy, ARTYX Construction ensured that the project met the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, delivering a space perfectly suited to the needs of both veterinary professionals and their clients.
